Prey director Dan Trachtenberg is set to direct an upcoming episode of Stranger Things for its fifth and final season. Because of its cinematic nature, popularity, and massive scope, Stranger Things has drawn comparisons to Game of Thrones. Despite the similarities, Trachtenberg believes there is one key difference between the two shows.

“I don’t think Stranger Things falls into a category of television seasons like Game of Thrones where the pilot is cool, slows down, and the last two episodes are the big battle,” Trachtenberg said in an interview with Variety. “I can tell you, and pointing to other seasons, there is rock and roll throughout the entire season.”

Trachtenberg began prepping for his episode before the strike, promising an “awesome” entry. Known as a film and TV pilot director, Trachtenberg is excited to direct another television episode.

“I haven’t really done an episode of a TV show. I’ve stuck to doing pilots and movies, but Stranger Things is a laser into my heart,” Trachtenberg added. “The Duffer Brothers are incredible, and we have so much in common. With this being the last season and hearing a little bit about what could be an episode I could do, I got excited.”

Who is Involved in Stranger Things 5?

The popular Netflix series was created by the Duffer brothers. Principal photography was supposed to begin in May 2023. However, production has been suspended due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes.

Stranger Things 5 will see the return of stars David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, Charlie Heaton, and Maya Hawke. In June, Linda Hamilton was cast in an undisclosed role.

All four seasons of Stranger Things are streaming on Netflix.
