Storm Reid has been tapped to star in Teyana Taylor‘s first directorial film Get Lite, which includes many elements of her New York City upbringing.

Per Deadline, the film, which is a name after a NYC dance style, “follows a studious New York City teenager who has his world upended when he falls for a charismatic beatmaker (played by Reid). She recruits him to join her Litefeet dance crew, forcing him to choose between a safe academic path and his rekindled love of dance.”

The entire cast has yet to be revealed as of publication, however, Paramount Pictures will produce the project along with Reid’s imprint, A Seed & Wings Productions, Kenya Barris’ Khalabo Ink Society, and Bill Karesh through OFFBRND. Taylor will also executive produce the flick, written by Eric Gross.

Taylor, who grew up in Harlem, will be visually telling a familiar story as she started out her career as a music artist before ultimately becoming one of the dopest women wearing multiple hats. She now holds titles including choreographer, professional dancer, fashion designer, stylist, and creative director.

Besides helping out some of our favorite artists turn their performances into visual masterpieces, Taylor has also most recently starred in the film The Book of Clarence and A Thousand And One.

Reid, on the other hand, recently won her first Emmy award for outstanding guest actress in a drama series for her role as Riley in HBO’s hit series The Last Of Us. She’s also starred in recent films Missing and The Nun II aside from her recurring role as Gia in the TV series Euphoria.
