Winners and losers

Stocks in the red include Big Lots as the discounter reported a surprise decline in same-store sales; National Beverage as the La Croix seltzer parent missed on revenue, and Mattel – shares dropping on reports Toys R Us is preparing to liquidate its U.S. operations. Toy maker Hasbro is falling as well.

El Pollo Loco, the chicken chain beat on earnings by a penny, saw same-store sales rise 1.4%, and issued an upbeat profit forecast for 2018, Nutanix as the cloud computing company was upgraded at BTIG, and Stifel resumed coverage with a ‘buy’ rating, and (FS) United Natural Foods – shares jumping here as the food supplier reported a strong quarter, beating on both the top and bottom lines, and upped its fiscal 2018 guidance.
