Stocks mixed after heavy earnings week

Stocks (^DJI, ^GSPC, ^IXIC) claw their way back from yesterday’s losses as the Dow sets a new all-time high. Catch The Final Round at 3:55 p.m. with Dan Roberts, Myles Udland, Nicole Sinclair and Jared Blikre.

Winners & Losers

Stocks ending the day on a low note include Bojangles as the restaurant chain reported same store sales were down 1.4% and lowered guidance; Altria, parent of Philip Morris, on news of an FDA proposal to cut nicotine levels in cigarettes to non-addictive levels; and Mattel, with shares sinking as the toymaker missed on earnings and revenue, with sales of Barbie falling 5%.

Stocks ending the day on a high note include Boston Beer Company, the owner of Sam Adams, after posting a big beat on its top and bottom lines; Invisalign maker Align Technology as earnings and revenue came in above Wall Street estimates; and First Solar, with shares surging as the solar company reported an earnings beat and they raised their full year guidance.
