The couples then spend time together on their honeymoon and spend eight weeks together living a family lifestyle. After eight weeks, they get to decide whether they want to divorce or stay together on Decision Day. There are several experts on the show that examine the couples’ compatibility with each other. For season 17, experts Pastor Cal and Dr. Pepper and are reunited in the host city of Denver, Colorado, along with Dr. Pia, who joins the show as a full-time expert.

Talking to E! News, Dr. Pepper Schwartz revealed the tedious process of making the couples. Hundreds of people apply to the show and the experts go to churches, bars, dating apps or anywhere that people meet to “make the prospective pool as big as people.” There’s more steps to the vetting process including a meet-and-greet, several interview sessions and psychological and background checks. The final step is a home visit from Dr. Pepper.

“My hope was that we would be able to support these people and help them grow into better versions of themselves by bringing out skills to the process, by matching them through science and maybe this really could work and it could work even beyond helping these people grow and get more information about themselves, but to give them skills. And to augment what we hoped was already thought was a good match according to our scientific tools. And the more we went on, the more I believed in it because I could see people listen and learn and it was fascinating and wonderful. She continued, “It worked out beyond my wildest fantasies.”

Pastor Cal told the site about his views on marriage on the show. “I’ve learned and tell couples now that marriage doesn’t work—people work. And quite often, we want the marriage to work,” he said. “Sometimes we want to blame the marriage and say the marriage is not working, but it’s you. You’re not working. You’re not doing the things that are necessary. You’re not communicating and not being vulnerable. You got to be kind. You got to be honest. And you’re gonna have to put in the time and don’t give up too quickly.”

Since its premiere, the show’s overall success rate of marriages after the show is 20 percent. So who’s still together from Married at First Sight Season 17? Read more below to find out.

Who’s still together from Married at First Sight season 17?

In the trailer for season 17, one bride tells the camera: “I’m getting married to a rando,” then asks: “What did I get myself into?” A man is heard saying, “If you don’t want to do this, we’ll get you out of here.” Wedding bells play, then a voiceover says: “For the first time in Married at First Sight history, five brides go to the altar but only four come out married.” Here’s who’s still together from Married at First Sight season 17.

Are Emily and Brennan still together from Married at First Sight season 17?

Status: Broken up.

Are Emily and Brennan still together from Married at First Sight season 17? Nope, they didn’t make it past Decision Day. During the reunion episode, Brennan tried to explain what went wrong. “I was way too concerned with how it would make Emily feel,” Brennan said.

Although, Emily was convinced he was more concerned about how things made him feel. “I told you a million times, ‘I’m a big girl.’ You’d say the meanest things and I’d be like, ‘Great,’” she explained. “You saying something mean is actually progress for us.”

In one episode, Dr. Pia asked Brennan if he was “holding back” from being “fully honest” to protect his wife’s feelings after a rocky start to their marriage. “I’m definitely mindful of being respectful and taking very much into account her feelings and I’m not going to say anything that won’t help anything but do damage,” he said, but Emily seemed confused by his response.

Dr. Pia turned to Emily to address her body language. “So, I’m noticing your body language and your eye movements as he’s saying that…” Brennan chimed in, “That’s just her.” Dr. Pia again tried to discuss Emily’s body language, asking, “But, there’s something behind that. So when you’re squinting your eyes and looking like that, what does that mean?” Brennan tried to cut in again, to which Dr Pia said, “Let me talk to her. Brennan, I’m talking to Emily.”

But he won’t back down. “I’m just helping,” he claimed. “This is a lot, right, so I’m just gonna help her take a step back.” Dr. Pia said: “She doesn’t need your help though,” to which Brennan responded: “This is my wife, so I’m just gonna make sure she’s okay.” Dr. Pia affirmed, “That’s my job is to ask her if she’s okay.”

In the episode that aired on January 17, 2024, Brennan asked his friend Richie for some advice because the marriage has been challenging from a physical perspective. “I know we talk pretty much every day so you kind of know what’s been going on,” he says during a video chat with his friend. “So I was just hoping to get a little advice from the master of marriage himself.” He added: “We have a lot of trust with one another so he can speak as freely as he wants without me having to worry if he’s holding back. Even though Emily and I are in a better place, I just want his honesty and so I feel like he can give the best advice about how to keep the momentum going,” he explained.

Richie gave Brennan a hard truth relating to his past relationships, telling his mate, “I think you can get stuck in your head sometimes about things. You know, your roommate leaves something out and you’d just be pissed at the roommate. It’s happened with relationships in the past, you know, there can be one little thing that bothers you and that one little thing will trump any other connection you had.”

He continues: “And once a thought gets in your brain, I think it’s hard for you to maybe snap out of it so I worry that in your head you said there’s no romantic connection, and now you’re kind of… I don’t want you to close your doors to the opportunity that it could happen.”

Emily spoke with Distractify about seeing Brennan for the first time—happening, in a rare instance, before they’d met. “My best guy friend in Chicago sent me one of Brennan’s Instagram pictures after I told him I was matched,” Emily said. And I was like, ‘Ahh, no I can’t see this.’ So I pretended I never saw it since there was a good chance that wasn’t him and essentially blocked it out of my memory. Once I walked down the aisle and looked [Brennan] in the eyes, it all came back to me, and overall, I was very pleased with what I saw and very excited that he was all mine.”

Emily explained that “being disrespectful, not self-aware, given [that] they lack emotional intelligence, someone who is egotistical, [and] someone who is insecure and manipulative” are some of her red flags.

Are Lauren and Orion still together from Married at First Sight season 17?

Status: Divorced.

Are Lauren and Orion still together from Married at First Sight season 17? Nope, they got divorced before Decision Day. In it, Orion reveals: “I guess we really didn’t talk to everybody since the honeymoon, but Lauren, and I,”—then he emphasizes “I”—”have decided to get a divorce.” Lauren herself, repeats “I”, suggesting she didn’t have much of a say in their breakup.

“I was called a failure in the marriage,” Lauren told him. “You’ve never apologized for the way you made me feel. You did not even apologize for calling me a failure. And that I felt in this marriage of her, not having your bag. So don’t sit here and say you’ve apologized for those words.” Orion said in response: “Well, I don’t think you have failed,” to which Lauren called him a “gaslighter”. Hmm, it’s not looking good.

We can’t locate them on social media so we don’t know for absolutely sure if they’ve plit. Still, in an episode that aired on December 6, 2023, Orion confessed that he’d “lost all romantic interest” in Lauren after learning she had sex with someone else two months before they walked down the aisle (i.e. before they met). Dr. Pia asked him: “Orion, how does control show up in your life for you?” He replied: “Well, I’m not trying to control what’s happening by calling for a divorce.”

Dr. Pia continued: “You are. You feel uncomfortable. So your part of control is to remove yourself from it. I do feel confident that a repair is possible but you are protecting yourself. That’s a certain level of vulnerability that you have closed off right now. … Whether y’all are married to each other or anybody else, there’s going to be many uncomfortable moments. And I really don’t want to see you all give up on one another.”

During a one-on-one conversation, Orion and Lauren discussed his shifting feelings. “I feel so horrible that I’ve put you in the predicament to lose romantic attraction to me because through this, I have maintained my romantic attraction to you,” Lauren told Orion. “But if you don’t feel like you have it in you to do it, I don’t want to twist your arm. I don’t want to force you to stay with me.”

Orion said he had no desire to repair their relationship, despite their chemistry. “There is no doubt that there is chemistry between us and when we are, you know, avoiding the big topics or trying to navigate around them,” he explained. “Yes, I mean, everything is great. But there is no romance within me anymore.” He added: “After the honeymoon, taking time and just this conversation and where I’m feeling and where I’m at, I want to continue to follow through with wanting a divorce.”

In one teaser clip supplied to ET, Lauren candidly shared her thoughts on her sexuality, saying, “I’m not really big on labels, but I would say if I had to identify as anything it would be queen. I love men. I enjoy women, but I really just want to be married to a man.”

Meanwhile, Orion said during his confessional. “If my potential spouse identified as queer, it wouldn’t bother me. In Navajo tribes, we have a coming of two souls, masculine and feminine,” he says. “I have explored that feminine side when it came to going on a date with a man, but that was also like the door where it was like, ‘I’m not gay.’ You know, things like that. I feel like if you don’t explore those, or you don’t explore your own curiosity, it’s just too binding.”

The show’s host Kevin Frazier asked a panel in a special episode titled Kicking Off Denver how Orion and Lauren might fare. “With this particular couple, I think they might be able to explore those interests together, because maybe in other circumstances she was paired with another guy there’d be no way. But if they’re communicating and they’re honest, and they both understand, who’s to say what they might go off and do and play with and explore.” Another panelist added, “I think this couple is going to make it. There’s no doubt he’s going to appreciate all she brings with her fluidity.”

However, a teaser suggested that maybe there’s trouble ahead. “I think it is really amazing how well we got matched together by the experts,” Orion observed, but then the tone totally shifted. “I don’t feel comfortable with the fact that… you know… you did sleep with somebody else,” he says in a different scene with Lauren, who admits, “I did.”

While nobody uses the word “cheat”, it does suggest there could be some trust issues between them. “I did feel myself falling for him and now I’m just like, well… what the f—?” In another scene, Orion is shown saying: “I am just really feeling quite broken.”

Status: Divorced.

Are Clare and Cameron still together from Married at First Sight season 17? While they seemed to have good chemistry at the time of their wedding, tensions began to show as early as their honeymoon when they clashed several times over their core values, including how to raise children and their different views on therapy.

In episode 11 of Married at First Sight, Clare and Cameron decide to divorce after 31 days of marriage. “On the count of three, say if you want a divorce or you want to keep trying,” he said to Clare. One, two, three: “Divorce,” they both said.

In the episode that aired on January 10, 2023, Cameron revealed that he needed to undergo serious surgery. “I’ve developed a heart condition. The doctors don’t really have much to say other than I’m going to need a procedure done on my heart,” he told the cameras. Later, he pondered his heart condition. “Did the stress of my separation from Clare lead to this heart problem? Um, it was probably something that was going to happen, maybe it accelerated it.”

The show still follows Cameron as he heads to the hospital for a procedure to treat his arrhythmia, which is otherwise known as an irregular heartbeat. The surgery is called cardiac ablation, which according to the Mayo Clinic “uses heat or cold energy to create tiny scars in the heart to block irregular electrical signals and restore a typical heartbeat.” Clare revealed in the episode that aired on January 14 2024 that they weren’t in contact with each other. “I have no need to contact Clare at this moment,” Cameron told the cameras, “I’ve just gotta get it done.”

According to ShowBiz Cheat Sheet: “Clare is a quadruplet and a therapist. She’s family-oriented but also independent. Her ideal partner will appreciate that she values her alone time. Clare is also fitness-focused and disciplined, and she wants an equal partnership with her future husband. Clare’s husband-to-be is Cameron.

A native of New Zealand, he’s an entrepreneur who owns his own bike shop. His ideal wife is slender, healthy, and into physical activities. She also needs to be adventurous. Cameron—who describes himself as reliable and trustworthy—has been single since his last relationship ended a year ago, but he’s ready to settle down with the right partner.”

Are Becca and Austin still together from Married at First Sight season 17?

Status: Divorced.

Are Becca and Austin still together from Married at First Sight season 17? They decided to split on Decision Day. Instagram fan account @mafsfan revealed that the two divorced during the duration of the show. They certainly seem to have the strongest connection out of all the couples, despite some of their differences. Austin in Christian and Becca is Jewish, but identifies as Agnostic.

“One thing that we kinda connected on was the similarities between Christianity, Judaism and Islam,” Austin said in the episode that aired on January 3, 2023. “So I’m somewhat agnostic in the fact that there are so many similarities, like, they could all be the same thing. Like, who’s to say? Who knows? I don’t, that’s for sure.” He added: “I don’t think any of that affects how I care for you. Like, I can still love you regardless of whatever happens in the afterlife.”

He later said that he was encouraged by how she interacts with kids. “She is really great with children, and seeing that is very important to me,” Austin told producers in one episode. “I would be lying if I said that I hadn’t really ever thought about how we were going to, like, raise children together, even though we have different beliefs.”

Becca is a wedding photographer, who says on her professional website: “My journey in photography started when I graduated from college with a degree in Communication many moons ago. My degree allowed me to see the importance in storytelling through words, but I realized I had already found my favorite way to tell stories long before college that had no connection to the words I studied, and that was through the narrative of pictures. My camera allows for the same powerful feat my words can achieve: freeze a moment in time, transcribe memories, and capture timeless joy.”

She’s matched with Austin, who works in business development and wants an “American dream life.”  Not much is known about Austin’s previous relationships but he and Becca seem like a good fit on paper. Will it last? Only time will tell.

Are Michael and Chloe still together from Married at First Sight season 17?

Status: Divorced.

Are Michael and Chloe still together from Married at First Sight season 17? They do get married, but according to Instagram spoiler account @MAFSfan, they decide to break up before Decision Day. There’s no source for this so we don’t know if it’s accurate and his social media accounts are private.

The identity of Michael’s second bride was finally, officially revealed (though fans of the show and internet sleuths have known it for months) as Chloe Brown, in the episode that aired on January 10, 2023. “If you asked me in my early 20s what I wanted in a man, what I wanted then and what I want now are two completely different things,” she said. “I have an opportunity to do something I’ve never imagined in my life doing ever, really thinking about being married at first sight!” per a clip obtained by People.

“I’m that person that for my whole life, I wanted to exude this very specific image of being super successful and super capable and able to take on the world and didn’t need anybody,” she continued. “I think that’s why I ended up being in the relationships with the men that I was in because they were perfect on paper.”

According to legal documents viewed by In Touch, Michael and Chloe Brown tied the knot on March 13, 2023, almost six weeks after the original four MAFS season 17 couples were married in late January. She is Michael’s second match since his original wife left him at the altar.

In the teaser for season 17’s debut, a bride admitted to the camera: “I don’t think I can do this,” she said. “I don’t want to marry a stranger.” The voiceover said: “For the first time in Married at First Sight history, five brides go to the altar but only four come out married.”

During the October 2023 premiere of season 17, fans watched as Michael stood at the altar as he prepared to meet his future wife for the first time. “My biggest hope for this marriage is that we truly are a great match together,” he told cameras before his nuptials to a stranger, hoping it was going to be “fireworks” when he met her. “That it’ll be evident to us as we grow together.” He watched as she made her way down the aisle—the audience didn’t see her face but Michael said she was “beautiful”—until she said: “I don’t think I can do this,” before the ceremony abruptly ends in everyone’s shock. “That hurt,” the disappointed groom is heard saying.

Michael reflected on the moment during the October 25 episode of MAFS: After Party: “I will admit, probably the thing that had frustrated me the most at the altar was like, did it really have to be this way? Like, you didn’t have to tell me up here [in front of everyone],” he told host Keshia Knight Pulliam. “Like seeing my friends and family and knowing that I brought you guys out here to celebrate with me, and you guys have been so supportive, and this is what ends up happening.”

Pastor Cal told Distractify that this was obviously really unexpected. “Of course, we could never plan for anything like this, so it was not always in the plan. This caught us all off guard, so we had to go back to the drawing board.” He also revealed that Chloe didn’t know about the runaway bride situation.

“Although some may feel she should have been notified, it would have only caused her unnecessary stress,” Pastor Cal said. “Because we know the singles, we have to use our best judgment as to what is the correct course. We didn’t want to add to the already stressful situation and besides, we were following Michael’s lead here and it was his story to tell, not ours.”

The identity of who left Michael at the altar remains a mystery, though some sites incorrectly named her as Chloe Brown. Fans on social media, including Instagram and Reddit however, pointed out that Chloe is Michael’s replacement bride after the first mystery woman backed out of their marriage.

“Yeah, my understanding from what’s been posted in this sub is that he marries Chloe 2 months later in March which is why the season is late in airing. There’s a marriage license application for the two of them in March floating around. The others were all in January,” one fan speculated on Reddit. This was seemingly confirmed by a show fan account, @mafsfan, which clarified: “NOTE: Chloe is not the “runaway bride”. They get married Approx 6 weeks after the initial weddings,” in the comments section.
