Still like a virgin: Madonna rocks another wedding gown in sexy new 'Medellín' video

Thirty-five years after “Like a Virgin” and her career-making inaugural MTV Video Music Awards performance, 60-year-old queen of pop Madonna is still rocking a white wedding gown — and staging a mock wedding to 25-year-old Colombian superstar Maluma in their steamy, PDA-packed new video for her first single in four years, “Medellín.”

The video begins with Madonna kneeling in a church and whispering, “I will never be what society accepts me to be; I have seen too much” — before throwing off such societal restrictions in her characteristically unapologetic style for the next sexy six minutes.

The artsy clip, lensed by James Blake/ASAP Rocky director Diana Kunst, features sizzling chemistry from Madonna and her duet partner, as they cha-cha dance, sip champagne and smoke cigars in bed while she licks Maluma’s foot, exchange in a bit of light Erotica-reminiscent S&M, passionately make out, and line-dance at their raucous backyard wedding reception (during which Maluma slips off her garter).

“Madame X loves to dance, because you can’t hit a moving target,” Madonna intones in voice of the eyepatched titular character from her upcoming 14th studio album.

Madonna’s rapport with Maluma seems genuine. She recently told Apple Music’s Beats 1 radio show that she met Maluma at the 2018 VMAs, after which he chased her down in hopes of collaborating with her. “The next day he sent me flowers and said what a great honor it was to meet me,” she revealed. After checking out the reggaeton’s star music, the chameleonic pop goddess reached out to Maluma and told him she wanted to switch up her sound: “Let’s do something slightly different, but still has a connection to the music he makes and is still connected to Madame X. We started working on music and he started commenting and adding things, and eventually we got into a studio together. He’s so great to work with.”

During MTV’s live-streamed interview in the lead-up to the video’s premiere, Maluma surprised Madonna via satellite, and when the VJ bid farewell to Maluma so that MTV could actually air the video, Madonna begged for him to stay on the show a bit longer.

While “Medellín” is racy, Madonna seems to be leading a quiet life these days in her new home city of Lisbon, Portugal, where she relocated so that her son David Banda can pursue a professional soccer career; she joked to MTV that she is now a “soccer mom.” She also revealed that Madame X is greatly influenced by Lisbon, where she has spent time with new friends playing music at intimate living room parties.

Madonna and Maluma will appear at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards on May 1, for their first public live performance of “Medellín.” It will also be Madonna's first televised performance of new music in more than four years. The full track listing for Madame X, out June 14, is:
