Global Citizen is a social action platform dedicated to ending extreme poverty and other world issues. The 2017 festival in support of the cause intends to call on world leaders to improve education, food security, healthcare, gender equality, and sanitation worldwide.

This year’s Global Citizen Festival will culminate at the end of the new Global Citizen Week, a week long effort leading up to the concert featuring forums and discussions on developmental issues, as well as concert, film, and art series.

Global Citizens are able to earn tickets to the event by taking part in the movement and completing advocacy tasks at globalcitizenfestival.com. Ticket draws will occur throughout the summer leading up to the event.

“Over the last year, we’ve seen voters around the world reject the nationalism and isolationism that keeps people living in extreme poverty,” says Hugh Evans, CEO of Global Citizen. “Now, we are calling on activists and music fans to use their voice to change the world. We couldn’t be more thrilled to be announcing this incredible lineup for Global Citizen. Now more than ever, we need to ensure we work together for the world’s poor.”

“Thanks to the passion of artists and their fans, music has the power to transcend borders and unite people,” says Michael Rapino, President and CEO, Live Nation Entertainment. “Live Nation is proud to help the music community come together to make the world a better place through efforts like Global Citizen Festival.”
