Novel-turned-Prime Video series Daisy Jones & the Six is about a fictional 1970s rock band, but anyone familiar with music history could guess the musical drama is based on the tumultuous career of Fleetwood Mac. Even Stevie Nicks agrees, as she has now given the show her stamp of approval.

“Just finished watching @daisyjonesand6 for the 2nd time. In the beginning, it wasn’t really my story, but Riley seamlessly, soon became my story,” Nicks wrote. “It brought back memories that made me feel like a ghost watching my own story. It was very emotional for me. I just wish Christine [McVie] could have seen it. She would have loved it. Hopefully it will continue…”

Riley Keough portrays Daisy Jones — the co-lead singer and songwriter of the titular band — in the series, while Sam Claflin portrays the group’s other frontperson, Billy Dunne. Taylor Jenkins Reid, who wrote the original novel, has said her story was inspired by her experience watching Fleetwood Mac videos growing up, which has led many to place Daisy and Billy as the series’ own Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham (Suki Waterhouse’s Karen Sirko stands in as the late Christine McVie, and so on).

To recreate such a consequential band, showrunners Scott Neustadter and Will Graham called in the big guns, enlisting Phoebe Bridgers, Marcus Mumford, and Jackson Browne to co-write original music alongside producer Blake Mills. The series’ cast performed the songs together as well, coming together as something of a real band.

The series premiered back in March on Prime Video (stream it here). As for a Season 2? Perhaps Suki Waterhouse knows

As for Nicks, the singer recently released her entire solo discography in a huge new box set. She’s also in the midst of a North American tour; find remaining tickets here.
