Before Steve Harvey pitted families against one another on "Family Feud," he ran Chicago's radio airwaves in the late '90s. Now, nearly 25 years later, he's disc jockeying again, but for TV music documentaries.

The comedian, host, and recent fashion icon will be the face of AXS TV's Black Music Month celebration, a TV event that will circulate previously released music documentaries including "Lightning in a Bottle," "Mr. Dynamite: The Rise Of James Brown," and "Beats, Rhymes And Life: The Travels Of A Tribe Called Quest"  every Wednesday in June (9 EDT/6 PDT).

Aside from being an investor in AXS TV's parent company, Harvey says he was "a rather obvious choice" for the Black Music Month hosting gig, saying music "is part of my fibers."

The 65-year-old entertainment mogul has a soundtrack for all of his life's moments, from childhood memories of sneaking into The O'Jays concerts to the perfect song for a potential father-daughter waltz with Lori Harvey.

Couple goals: Michael B. Jordan and Lori Harvey are an Instagram official couple after dual romantic posts

"I grew up in the 60s. My teenage years was in the 70s. So it was all a different thing for me, because music used to be so segregated," Harvey says. "Music for us was everything. It was such a cultural experience back then, and it just continued."

Harvey has cemented himself in almost every facet of media – he's mastered stand-up comedy, fronted a self-titled sitcom, delivered his voice on the radio and hosted several pageants, game and variety shows. And while he hasn't dipped a toe in music, he offers a look at the tunes that keep him going.

Steve Harvey's first concerts doubled as romantic dates

A much younger Harvey was caught red-handed by his brother for sneaking into venues, but Harvey considers his first legitimate concerts The Commodores, Earth, Wind and Fire, and L.T.D.

"Back in the day, that was the date because everything was live music back then," Harvey says. "It was like the date of dates. You know, it was bigger than movies."

Harvey, who describes himself as an "R&B guy," says today's music lacks the romance of yesterday's hits, and believes today's music tends to lean toward being disrespectful to women.

'Very uncomfortable': Steve Harvey reacts to steamy photo of daughter Lori, boyfriend Michael B. Jordan

"You had to talk to women different(ly) back then," Harvey says. "You had to romance women in the music. I mean, the idea of having a certain respect level for women in music, I think that's gone."

A Lori Harvey father-daughter dance? Steve has a song in mind.

Harvey's daughter, Lori Harvey, will celebrate two years dating actor and director Michael B. Jordan in November. While the couple hasn't announced any wedding plans, her dad has the perfect father-daughter dance song ready in any event: Eddie and Gerald Levert's rendition of "Wind Beneath My Wings," also known as "Hero."

Michael B. Jordan 'for sure' loves Lori: A timeline of their relationship

"That's what I've tried to be with all my kids; I try to be their hero ... a person that they can come to, that they can count on," Harvey says. "If I was doing a father-daughter dance, I'd like to be her hero."

Steve and Marjorie Harvey's song: 'Adore' by Prince

The same musical romance that drew Harvey to concerts in his youth drew him to his wife of nearly 15 years, Marjorie Harvey.

The couple married in 2007, but met in the late '80s. In a recently resurfaced clip Harvey posted on Instagram May 5, the comedian is jolted into praising his wife onstage after hearing one song: Prince's "Adore."

"That's our song; that's it," Harvey says. "When I met her in the '80s that song had just came out."

Earlier this month, Harvey dedicated a Mother's Day post to Marjorie on Instagram with a video of them slow dancing in Paris to another one of his favorite songs, "The Morning After" by Frankie Beverly and Maze. Lori, whom Harvey adopted after marrying her mom, Marjorie, commented on her parents' slow waltz, "Goals."
