Buscemi’s alleged attacker has been described as a bearded man who was sporting a baseball cap, a blue t-shirt, and black sweatpants that day. In photos taken from security cameras, the apparent perpetrator could also be seen wearing white sneakers. Although the NYPD has put out these photos, the attacker’s identity remains unknown to the public. The attacker fled the scene following the incident and no arrest has been made yet.
The incident took place around 11:48 a.m. on May 8, near 369 Third Ave. in NYC, and is still being investigated. In a statement to The Post, the actor’s publicist revealed, “Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city.”

According to his publicist, Buscemi is “OK and appreciates everyone’s well wishes.” Following the incident, Buscemi had swelling on his face and around his left eye. He was subsequently admitted to Bellevue Hospital.
The Brooklyn-born actor has starred in many iconic films such as Reservoir Dogs (1992), Pulp Fiction (1994), Fargo (1996), The Big Lebowski (1998), and The Wedding Singer (1998). He garnered two Primetime Emmy nods for his outing as Enoch “Nucky” Thompson in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire (2010–2014). Buscemi finally won a Primetime Emmy in 2016 for his web series talk show Park Bench with Steve Buscemi.
