Entering the 2022 season, Sterling Shepard was poised to maintain a prominent role in the Giants offense after playing just three games in 2021. Shepard hauled in 13 receptions and a touchdown to start the 2022 season before suffering a torn ACL against Dallas on September 26.

While Shepard's injury took away his impact on the field this season, people inside the Giants organization, including his head coach, continue to praise the impact Shepard has made this season off the field, including his encouragement of the team during the push to the postseason.

“I just think he’s very grateful,” Brian Daboll told reporters on Thursday. “He’s a great teammate. He provides a lot of juice. He’s out here at practice every day. He’s one of the better leaders that I’ve been around – very selfless.”

Shepard provides a veteran voice in his 7th season with the team with valuable insight as a remaining player from New York’s last playoff appearance in 2016.

“I think he helps everybody,” Daboll added. “He helps the defensive guys, the receivers, the offensive guys. He’s all over in practice. Walkthrough, he’s talking to those guys. He’s played a lot of football. I think the guys have a lot of respect for him. He’s just been a really good teammate for us.”

Shepard looks to inspire the Giants once more as they head into Saturday’s NFC Divisional Round game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
