Two of This Is Us‘ key figures are getting ready to take you down to Paradise City.

Dan Fogelman, who created the Emmy-winning NBC series, announced Wednesday on social media that production had begun on his new Hulu series. And the subject of his first behind-the-scenes photo? Star Sterling K. Brown, aka The Artist Formerly Known as Randall Pearson.

“Day one. Here we go. @SterlingKBrown,” Fogelman posted on X.

News of Fogelman and Brown’s new collaboration broke in April. The thriller, Paradise City, was written by Fogelman; Brown’s character is the head of security for a former president. Both men executive-produce the drama, alongside Jess Rosenthal (This Is Us, Only Murders in the Building) and John Hoberg (black-ish, My Name Is Earl).

Brown’s character is “not Randall,” he teased in June. “The character is completely different, completely different milieu.” He later added: “But you know Dan… He can’t help but throw some heart in there. There is always going to be heart.”

There is no word yet on Paradise City‘s release date. Brown next will be seen in Washington Black, Hulu’s limited series adaptation of Esi Edugyan’s novel. The nine-episode historical drama will follow 11-year-old George Washington “Wash” Black, who runs from a Barbados sugar plantation after a traumatic incident. Black becomes the protégé of Medwin Harris (played by Brown), a convivial refugee who is very popular in/deeply protective of the Black community in Halifax, Nova Scotia. As the series progresses, Wash and Medwin’s relationship causes Medwin to look within himself and let down his defenses.
