Stephen Fry Shines in 'The Great Indoors' Premiere

The Great Indoors premiered on Thursday night, and even though the pilot got mixed reviews from USA Today’s Robert Bianco and Yahoo’s Ken Tucker, there were plenty of laughs togo around, compliments of Stephen Fry.

Fry plays Roland, a soon-to-be retired owner of an outdoor adventure magazine that is struggling to stay afloat in an Internet-driven world. Roland, a former adventurer himself, seems like a man who has too many colorful memories to remain normal.

When Joel McHale’s character, Jack, returns from writing in the field, Roland offers him a drink. When Jack says he’ll have whatever Roland is drinking, the owner replies, “then you’ll be having your third scotch of the morning.”

Roland seems like a fun character, and hopefully, should the show get picked up, he will be implemented heavily into the future plot lines.

The Great Indoors airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on CBS.
