Stephen Curry defends Ayesha Curry's panned Milly Rock dance: 'Slow news day today, I see'

Stephen Curry is a warrior on and off the court. The athlete stood up to critics of wife Ayesha Curry's dance moves via his Instagram Stories Wednesday.

“Slow news day today, I see," said the basketball player who got married in 2011. "Just make sure y’all send me the video of you dancing at your own restaurant opening."

"We’re going to keep Milly Rocking until that happens, you know what I'm sayin'?” he added.

Ayesha, a cookbook author and TV host, became a trending topic on Twitter Wednesday after footage of her dance moves at her new location of her restaurant chain International Smoke made waves. A new International Smoke located in Del Mar opens Friday, according to the restaurant's website.

Critics were ruthless.

"i feel so bad for steph," one person wrote.

"First married man to voluntarily sleep on the couch..." posted another with a photo of Stephen.

"How I get 2nd hand embarrassment from this?" commented another.

Others on the social media site came to her defense.

"Ayesha Curry is so unproblematic. She’s just there building a career and (loving) the (expletive) out of her family. Why does she get such a hard time?" a Twitter user asked.

"Imagine being at the opening of your third or fourth restaurant and not being able to dance silly with family and celebrate without (expletive) making fun of it b/c they're jealous," remarked another. "Oh yes how dare she be happy and goofy THE ABSOLUTE SHAME."

"The internet takes everything so serious," posted one defender. "She goofy & I love it #AyeshaCurry #stophatin"

Wednesday isn't the first time Mr. Curry came to his wife's defense. In May, he praised her for her candid remarks on "Red Table Talk," which resulted in backlash.

On the Facebook Watch series hosted by Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith and Adrienne Banfield-Norris, Ayesha opened up about how it makes her feel when women fawn over her husband.

"Something that really bothers me, and honestly has given me a sense of a little bit of an insecurity, is the fact that yeah, there are all these women, like, throwing themselves (at him), but me, like the past 10 years, I don't have any of that," she said. "I have zero – this sounds weird – but, like, male attention, and so then I begin to internalize it, and I'm like, 'Is something wrong with me?' "

Pinkett Smith admitted she "dealt with that for years, too" when she was younger.

"I don't want it," Curry added, "but it'd be nice to know that, like, someone's lookin'."

Stephen commended his wife for being honest in an Instagram Story.

"proud of you for being authentic and Putting yourself out there – not being afraid of potential bull s#*# and nonsense that could and did come at you," he posted over a photo of the couple. "Way more positive than negative with all of this. Keep being you. I love you.”
