When the Stephen Colbert Election Night special creative team came up with this animated cold open for Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going To Clean Up This Sh*t?, they no doubt thought it was a laugh riot. Now, maybe not so much. It’s their explanation of how Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential race began in earnest when the high priest of the President Obama birther movement attended the 2011 White House Correspondents Dinner, where he was mocked Obama.
