Stephen Colbert: Showtime to air live election night special
Stephen Colbert to air live election night special on Showtime

Since Stephen Colbert took over The Late Show last year, most of his material has inevitably involved the 2016 presidential campaign headlined by Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. On Monday, Colbert announced that he’ll be taking that coverage all the way to the final moments of the campaign, though it won’t be on CBS. While ballots are being counted and analyzed on Nov. 8, Colbert will be hosting a live election special on Showtime, titled Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going To Clean Up This S—?

The special will be broadcast live from the Ed Sullivan Theater and is being produced by The Late Show team, but has a bit more freedom with its content. “It’ll be all the political comedy you love from my CBS show, with all the swearing and nudity you love from Showtime,” Colbert said in a statement.

Guests have not yet been announced, but Showtime promised “an eclectic group” for the special.

Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going To Clean Up This S–t? will air Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 11 p.m. ET on Showtime.
