Stephen Colbert Puts Steph Curry’s Bland Under Armour Shoes On Blast

Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry is known for his flashy play on the court. But his new signature shoes from Under Armour are getting attention for being the opposite. The Chef Curry 2’s do indeed look they could be worn by a chef or anyone else, based on their generic look. Stephen Colbert took off the gloves for a segment on The Late Show where he focused in on the bland kicks. “Ya’ll need to lay off. Steph is a class act and a great player, a friend of this show, and we need to focus on his skills on the court — nah, I’m sorry, I can'’ do it,” Colbert conceded. “These shoes are just too terrible.”

It was a free-for-all from there, and rightfully so for a pair of shoes that, according to Business Insider, are apparently boring on purpose for wider consumer appeal. Colbert put his foot on the gas while flaming the Chef Currys. “I can’t wait to wear these kicks. How much do I have to donate to NPR’s pledge drive to get them as a gift?” joked Colbert, adding, “These shoes are so bland you should have called them ‘Air Josh Grobans.’”

Anyway, Colbert wasn’t nearly as fierce as the internet. Memes and jokes have popped up all over the web, but Colbert still managed to finish strong with a knockout blow. “These shoes are so lame that I, a 52-year old suburban dad, think they look comfortable,” Colbert mused as he put his feet on the desk, wearing the Chef Curry 2s, “And I could wear them on weekends when I barbecue. In fact, I bought a pair.”
