Stephen Colbert pulls the 'Frozen' parenting trick on President Trump

Stephen Colbert pulls Frozen parenting trick on President Trump

Last month Stephen Colbert created a faux news segment called Real News Tonight to mollify President Trump after it was reported Trump staffers have used positive media coverage to limit his Twitter outbursts in the past.

On Wednesday’s episode of The Late Show, Colbert doubled down on the strategy amid new reports that White House aides are scrambling to keep Trump in good spirits.

“They treat the president the same way you treat a 5-year-old throwing a tantrum,” Colbert said. Channeling a harried parent, he continued, “Honey, calm down. Look, look, we’ve got Frozen. We’ve got the CD for Frozen. Let’s put that in there. Now please, let it go!”

Nonetheless, Colbert said, “If positive coverage helps calm down the big angry man with the launch codes, I say do it.”

He obliged by playing a new Trump-praising Real News Tonight segment featuring the definitely-not-made-up broadcasters Jill Newslady and Jim Anchorton. Take a look below.

The Late Show airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS.
