Stephen Colbert interviewed a cartoon Donald Trump

Donald Trump wasn’t booked as a guest for Wednesday night’s episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, so host Stephen Colbert found a suitable replacement: a cartoon version of the Republican presidential frontrunner.

Calling Trump “a cartoonish version of himself,” Colbert interviewed an avatar for the candidate about the recent controversy surrounding Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, who was charged with battery this week for grabbing a reporter’s arm.

“Mr. Cartoon Trump, how do you respond to Anderson Cooper comparing you to a 5-year-old?” Colbert asked the animated version of Trump.

“Anderson Cooper’s a dumb-dumb,” replied the fake Trump. “He’s a stupid-head. A total poopy-pants. It’s sad.”

Told by Colbert that he sounded “like an idiot” for making those remarks, the cartoon Trump added, “Stephen, I’m rubber, you’re glue. I have a lawyer and I will sue.”

The actual Trump has appeared on late-night shows throughout the campaign, sitting down with hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon. He’s also spoken to Colbert for The Late Show, albeit it via telephone. Trump called Colbert to discuss the Supreme Court just before the South Carolina primary.
