Stephen Colbert and Conan O'Brien both devoted portions of their respective late-night programs Tuesday to discussing Ivanka Trump being booed in Germany when she defended her father.
"Today, [President] Trump sent Ivanka to Berlin to participate in a women's conference, making her the first Trump to attend a women's conference that didn't include a swimsuit competition," said Colbert, stopping to pose and sashay around the stage.
Ivanka's panel was called "Inspiring Women: Scaling Up Women's Entrepreneurship." Colbert continued, "The Trump family has a long history of inspiring women: to march, to sue, to flee from a dressing room."
The Late Show host brought up Ivanka getting booed when she spoke about the president.
"Unfortunately, when Ivanka was talking about her father and how he was a champion of family leave, she was 'met with groans and hisses from the audience,'" said Colbert. "That is not fair. Trump obviously supports family leave, that's why he is always leaving one and starting another."
On Conan, the host cracked in his monologue, "In Germany, Ivanka Trump told a crowd that her father is a champion of supporting families, and she got booed. Ivanka said she was surprised; she's always been told to open with a joke."
O'Brien kept going, saying that her getting booed is a big story. "Apparently she told the people of Berlin,'Why would you get rid of a perfectly good wall? You had one, you got rid of it. You could have given it to us and we would have used it.'"
