Stephen Colbert and Country Star Sturgill Simpson Land Song on Waffle House Jukebox

If this talk-show hosting thing doesn’t work out for Stephen Colbert, he’s already got his start in country music. Back in April of this year, Colbert and country singer Sturgill Simpson wrote a song about Waffle House called “No Shirt. No Shoes. No Knuckleheads,” with the hopes of getting the song on the restaurant chain’s jukebox.

Colbert’s wishes came true at a Waffle House in Charleston, S.C., where he admitted to spending many late nights ordering “the left side of the menu.” On Thursday’s Late Show, Colbert and Simpson visited the Charleston Waffle House to debut the song.

After first checking the competition and finding no Kanye, Beyoncé or Beethoven, they cut the ribbon on the jukebox and played the song for the raucous crowd and partied with the staff as they danced and wasted a lot of waffles.

In the end, Colbert admitted, “I can honestly say, as long as my family isn’t watching, that this is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
