SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The much-anticipated third season of Shondaland’s ‘Bridgerton’ series is set to arrive on Netflix on May 16. In San Diego County, there are several ways to step into the world of the Regency-era as you await the show’s arrival.

Whether you are looking for a more extravagant high tea experience or somewhere more intimate and cozy to wind down, San Diego has a spot for everyone to enjoy a nice cup of tea.

Coral Tree Tea House

Located in Old Town, the Coral Tree Tea House transports visitors back in time with its charming garden setting and elegant interior furnishings. It offers three different tea experiences. The “queens high tea” includes the biggest assortment of food, such as scones and tea sandwiches. The menu also includes an afternoon tea option as well as a “princess and prince tea” for younger guests between five and eight years old. Reservations are required. The Coral Tree Tea House is located in the historic 1887 McConaughy House at 2490 Heritage Park Row, San Diego.

The AubreyRose Tea Room

The AubreyRose Tea Room could be a good option for people who live in East County. Located in downtown La Mesa, the tea room offers fine loose leaf teas and a prix fixe menu inspired by seasonal ingredients. The afternoon tea option includes a seasonal soup course, a three-tiered selection of sweet and savory treats and unlimited premium loose leaf tea. It also offers a menu option for children. Tea service is offered Thursdays through Sundays at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The AubreyRose Tea Room is located at 8362 La Mesa Blvd., La Mesa.

California English

This Sorrento Valley restaurant offers lunch, brunch and dinner menus that fuse the diverse cuisines of London and California. For people seeking the “Bridgerton” experience, it also offers tea time from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and Sundays by reservation. Guests can choose between the “English Tower” and the “California Tower” which both feature honey lavender scones, savory tea sandwiches, sweet treats and an assortment of jams. People who would prefer to enjoy a la carte treats instead of a full tower can opt to order food from their sandwich, scone and pudding menus. The Brittania Tea Rooms

The Brittania Tea Rooms boasts an authentic British afternoon tea experience in the Midway District. Guests can book a regular afternoon tea time in their main English country garden dining room which are offered at 11 a.m., noon, 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. six days a week. However, what makes this tea house stand out is its wide offering of themed tea events ranging from “Sherlock Holmes” to “Lord of the Rings.” In fact, The Brittania is hosting “Bridgerton”-themed events on Aug. 5, 6, 7 and 9. Themes vary throughout the year and customers must book in advance online. The Brittania is located at 2323 Midway Drive, San Diego.

The Grand Tea Room

Members of the ton who reside in North County may choose to visit The Grand Tea Room in downtown Escondido. It has five different options for afternoon tea time at varying price points and over 40 varieties of loose leaf teas to choose from. Whether your taste leans more fruity and herbal or dark and robust, The Grand Tea Room has plenty of flavors that could pair well with your tea sandwich of choice. The tea room is located at 145 W. Grand Ave., Escondido.

Fairmont Grand Del Mar

Enjoy a selection of sandwiches, scones and pastries while sipping on your choice of champagne or loose leaf tea at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar’s lobby lounge. Nestled in the Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve, this elegant hotel takes inspiration from Italian palazzos rather than the English estates depicted in “Bridgerton,” but it does offer afternoon tea Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. You can reserve a table here. The new season of “Bridgerton” is just around the corner, so why not sip on tea while you wait for Lady Whistledown to spill more? The third season of “Bridgerton” will be released in two parts — the first four episodes drop on May 16 followed by the next four on June 13.
