Steelers have no plans to replace QB Mitch Trubisky
First, it was Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney II and now it is head coach Mike Tomlin. They have both said the team has no plans to move on from backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky.
Trubisky signed with the Steelers last offseason on the first day of free agency with the promise of getting his career back on track as the Steelers starter. Then Pittsburgh drafted Kenny Pickett in the first round and it became a competition.
A competition Trubisky won initially. However, his victory was short-lived as he was benched in favor of Pickett at halftime of the Week 4 game against the New York Jets and Trubisky was once again relegated to backup.
Trubisky can’t be happy about being stuck behind Pickett knowing he is not going to be competing for a starting spot this season. We’ve talked at length that from a financial standpoint, releasing Trubisky makes more sense but with Tomlin talking so much about continuity, it makes sense they would keep him around.
