Steelers HC Mike Tomlin clarifies his issue with the end of the Seahawks game

After Sunday’s overtime win over the Seattle Seahawks, not everyone within the Pittsburgh Steelers organization was celebrating. Head coach Mike Tomlin was visibly upset on the sidelines when, at the end of regulation, the officials chose to stop the game and review a play there was no reason to review

Seattle ended up kicking a field goal to send the game to overtime but Pittsburgh pulled it out in the end. Nevertheless, Tomlin wasn’t happy about the timing of the stoppage and he clarified his point on Tuesday to the media.

“The game was stopped by a replay guy to find confirmation of a component of the play on the field, and I didn’t agree with that in the most significant moment, and I expressed it,” said Tomlin. “I had some conversations with New York regarding it. Got an explanation. I wouldn’t necessarily say I got clarity.

Despite the fact the challenge didn’t negatively impact the outcome of the game and ultimately would not have impacted the Seahawks’ ability to get that field goal, this wasn’t good enough for Tomlin. But after speaking his peace, decided to put the issue to bed.

“But I’m not going to discuss it any further. It’s in our rear view. It doesn’t benefit me or us in any way to continue to rehash it and so that’s my position.”

The Steelers are on their bye this week and will face the Cleveland Browns in Week Eight.
