Steel Panther Eliminated from America’s Got Talent

Steel Panther had a good run as contestants on America’s Got Talent this season, but it came to an end for the band on Wednesday night (August 30th). The hair-metal rockers were eliminated from the competition show, preventing them from earning a spot in the finals.

Upon Steel Panther’s first appearance during the audition round, there were questions from certain viewers about whether a successful touring act with numerous albums out even made sense for a show like America’s Got Talent, whose supposed mission is to find undiscovered talent. However, that didn’t stop the band from getting four “Yes” votes from the judges and making it to the qualifier round.

Even though Steel Panther blew away the judges with their performance of “Death to All But Metal” on Tuesday night (August 29th), America’s vote didn’t land in their favor. They were eliminated on Wednesday’s results show.

Following their elimination, Steel Panther stated, “Huge thanks to all the fans who voted for us on America’s Got Talent! It wasn’t in the cards this time BUT, don’t you worry… like a bad case of herpes, you can’t get rid of us that easily. The battle rages on and we will NEVER stop flying the banner of Heavy Metal!”

Despite not making it to the finals, the exposure on a national television show should only boost Steel Panther’s career. The band has made a solid living out of parodying ’80s hair-metal bands, delivering raucous and sometimes raunchy live shows.

In fact, fans new and old can catch Steel Panther on a North American tour kicking off in early September. Tickets for the outing, which is comprised mostly of Canadian dates, are available here.
