State Military Class Marching Band Contest schedule released

Oct. 23—Bands from across the state will compete for top honors at the 2023 UIL State Military Class Marching Band Championships Tuesday-Wednesday, Oct. 24-25, at McLane Stadium on the campus of Baylor University in Waco. This year marks the fourth year the Military Class contest has been sponsored by the UIL as a pilot program.

Bands will perform according to the following schedule.

Tuesday, October 24

—9:00 a.m. — 3A Preliminaries

—1:00 p.m. — 5A/6A Preliminaries

—6:30 p.m. — 3A Finals

—8:15 p.m. — 5A/6A Finals

Wednesday, October 25

—10:00 a.m. — 1A/2A Preliminaries

—1:00 p.m. — 4A Preliminaries

—6:30 p.m. — 1A/2A Finals

—8:15 p.m. — 4A Finals

Tickets will be $20 for preliminaries and $20 for finals, or $35 for combined tickets. Tickets may only be purchased on-site.

Access to a live video feed will be provided through KGAS and will be free to view.

Conference 1A/2A participants include Beckville, Gladewater Union Grove, Harleton, Overton, Price Carlisle, Shelbyville and Timpson High Schools.

The Troup Tiger Band will compete against other 3A finalists, which include Buna, Diana New Diana, Diboll, Gladewater, Gladewater Sabine, Hemphill, New Boston, New London West Rusk and White Oak.

The Bullard Panther Band and the Jacksonville Fighting Indian Band are among Conference 4A schools. Other 4A participating high schools include Brownsboro, Carthage, Center, Gilmer, Hardin-Jefferson, Henderson, Lindale, Longview Spring Hill, Pittsburg, Tyler Chapel Hill, Van and Vidor.

Conference 5A/6A participants are Cleveland, Crosby, Ennis, Hallsville, Humble Atascocita, Humble Kingwood, Huntsville, Longview, Lufkin, Nacogdoches and Whitehouse High Schools.
