Starz Greenlights ‘Nude’ Documentary About Treats! Magazine Founder

Starz has greenlighted Nude, a documentary film about treats! magazine founder Steve Shaw and photographer David Bellemere’s NU Muses project, from The Chair director-producer Anthony B. Sacco and producer Josh Shader.

The feature-length docu explores modern perceptions of modeling, nude photography and body image connected to the evolving social media landscape documenting a group of women working as professional models today. Nude chronicles the casting and creation of Shaw’s inaugural NU Muses project, a high-end calendar photographed by Bellemere that celebrates the forgotten art of the classic nude and will debut at Art Basel in Miami.

UK-born Shaw has a background in celebrity and fashion photography, shooting for Elle, Vogue and British Esquire. In 2011, he conceived and launched treats! as a European-inspired, multimedia brand merging high fashion, photography and sensuality. Bellemere, recognized for his unique light, colors and composition, has contributed to numerous magazines including Vogue, Elle and Harper’s Bazaar UK.

“We’re excited to work again with Tony Sacco and Josh Shader who, with their perceptive and direct cinema style, are creating an intimate film that aims to expose the raw emotions — as well as the passion and the pain — of individuals working to achieve their art,” said Carmi Zlotnik, managing director at Starz. “This documentary gives audiences a glimpse into the exclusive world of modeling and photography.”

Starz retains all domestic and international multiplatform rights including television, home entertainment and digital.
