Ahead of Monday night's Emmy Awards, Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and more of the soccer series' favorites shared set secrets
Believe it: the stars of Ted Lasso reunited at Kimpton Everly Hotel in Los Angeles on Thursday night for a pre-Emmys panel and celebration of their series.
Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and more favorite faces from the Apple TV+ series joined PEOPLE's Breanne Heldman for a chat about their favorite set memories — and that ever-lingering question of whether or not the show will eventually go on.
Though the series was shut out at last week's Golden Globe Awards, it has earned 13 Emmy Awards over the years, and is up for a staggering 21 at Monday night's ceremony (it already took home two).
Here, all the happy photos from PEOPLE and IHG Hotels & Resorts' event celebrating one of television's happiest shows.
Gang's All Here!
They're back! Nine Ted Lasso cast members attended Thursday night's PEOPLE and IHG Hotels & Resorts panel at Kimpton Everly Hotel in Los Angeles; from left: James Lance, Kola Bokinni, Phil Dunster, Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Cristo Fernández, Billy Harris and Brendan Hunt.
Style Files
A moment for Waddingham's chic black ensemble!
Walk the Walk
The whole cast brought their own signature styles to the evening.
Soccer Star
With soccer balls on hand, Dunster was keen to show off some of his Jamie Tartt moves.
Just for Kicks
Same with Bokinni, a.k.a. Isaac McAdoo.
Drink Up
Guests and cast members were treated to thematic cocktails and mocktails including 'The Champion' and 'The Game Changer.'
So Long, Farewell
When Heldman asked the cast about rehearsals for the finale's Sound of Music scene, Fernández (with sister Paloma Cinco) recalled how "emotional" it was.
"It was one of the last things we did together," he shared. "All I would forever remember, I think Jason came and said, ‘In this next one everyone goes insane.’ And we did it, and I think in the wide shot that was with the drone, everyone took their shirts off … different things. But I remember it was so much."
The Independent
"At that point when these guys were singing from Trent's point of view, I always felt like he was kind of objective at the beginning of that season, but by the end of it, he was just a full on a FC Richmond fan, and he just loved everybody," Lance, a.k.a. Trent Crimm, added of the Sound of Music scene. "And I think Trent liked musicals, as well."
Right Place, Right Time
Speaking to the show's massive success, Waddingham said, "The whole COVID was a bit interesting, when people say it came along just at the right time. People needed that. I actually think it slightly does the show a disservice, because I think regardless of the horrific pandemic, it would've done the same thing, because I think people were ready for kindness and humor through kindness and joy and the warm hug that it is in general."
Fun, Fun, Fun
Hunt joked that with some of the storylines and memorable moments on the show, "often we'd be like, 'What have we done? This is ridiculous.' "
Your Call
Without being asked, Goldstein answered one of the questions on everyone's minds: do his Roy Kent and Juno Temple's Keeley Jones end up together?
"Are we friends at the end or are we lovers? I leave it up to the audience," he said. "It's whatever you read the end ... is whatever you want it to be."
More to Come?
When asked by Heldman if there's any chance for spinoffs or additional seasons, Sudeikis replied, "I feel three seasons of the show were just made with and attempted to personify and portray the spirit of hope, and so I offer those three seasons as an example."
Sock It to Me
Several cast members revealed items they kept from the set. For Dunster, "they had the training socks that we were given were, honestly ... I've known warmth in my life. It was like a really great kindergarten teacher, a supportive thing. My clothes are 75 percent of those socks."
PEOPLE People
PEOPLE editor-in-chief Wendy Naugle mingled with Sudeikis on the red carpet.
Biscuits with the Boss
"The ethos of Ted Lasso is to first start to have such beautiful transparency to me," Waddingham said of the show's appeal. "That's how I took Ted as Rebecca, that he can't help but be honest and see the best in somebody and encourage him to see the best in themselves. So that for me has been the driving force through orbit. It's a pretty beautiful way of being, isn't it? Simple, really?"
