President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial ended with his acquittal on both charges: abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Today, Trump is speaking out about the trial for the first time since his acquittal — but stars like John Legend, Pink, Alyssa Milano, and more have already taken to social media to make their feelings known. Many are heartbroken over the outcome of the trial, and many more have expressed admiration for Senator Mitt Romney’s decision to vote against party lines.

While Legend, Pink, and Milano have regularly shared their opinions on politics in the past, the impeachment trial has drawn reactions even from stars who typically avoid it — like Hailey Bieber, who posted about the acquittal on her Instagram story. “God help us,” she wrote under a photo of Trump, adding: “Can not believe this.”

John Legend

When the New York Times broke the news that Romney would vote to convict Trump, Legend chimed in: “Good for Mitt Romney.”

Pink

“My dad always told me, ‘honey, if you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything. And sometimes you may have to stand alone on that mountain…are you brave enough to do that?’ And I said ‘yes, daddy sir. I am,'” Pink wrote, alongside a Daily Show clip announcing Romney’s decision.

Alyssa Milano

Milano also expressed her gratitude to the Utah senator: “Thank you for doing what’s right, @MittRomney. History will remember you as a decent, courageous man among cowards and fools.”

George Takei

Star Trek‘s George Takei was similarly impressed: “This took immense courage. Thank you for your integrity, Senator.”

Seth McFarlane

Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane commented “worth a watch” on a video of Romney’s statement. “It’s becoming a novelty to see an elected official who isn’t shouting or tweeting.”

Billy Eichner

Billy Eichner, always able to inject some humor into the situation, wrote this: “All I know is, we were all MUCH happier during the Halftime show.”

Hailey Bieber

Hailey Bieber reposted Complex and KMBC News’ posts on Trump’s acquittal with the comments “God help us” and “can not believe this.”

Kid Rock

Kid Rock felt he didn’t need words to address his longtime support of Trump; instead, he just posted a photo of the two of them giving a thumbs up.

Bette Midler

Bette Midler offered a grim vision of our future: “#Trump’s learned nothing from the experience of being impeached. He will continue his criminal ways & then double down, knowing he’s gotten away with it once again. He will be like Robert Mugabwe, dictator of Zimbabwe, who lasted 40 YEARS, dying at 95, with his nation in ruins.”

Rosie O’Donnell

Rosie O’Donnell proposed a new rule for impeachment proceedings: “new rule – all impeachment votes are in private – written on paper – like survivor.”

Hillary Clinton

And of course, Hillary Clinton weighed in on the Senate’s decision: “As the president’s impeachment trial began, Republican senators pledged an oath to defend the Constitution. Today, 52 of them voted to betray that oath—and all of us. We’re entering a dangerous territory for our democracy. It’ll take all of us working together to restore it.”

As this impeachment trial proved, the country is more split than ever — and tensions will likely only grow as the election approaches.
