Jon Bon Jovi rocked the bell, but it didn't help the Patriots.

Bon Jovi, a Patriots fan, was the “Keeper of the Light” at the Sunday, Dec. 17 New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs game at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts, but the Chiefs won anyway, 27-17.

The Sayreville native's duties included ringing a ceremonial bell at the stadium prior to the game. The Chiefs were apparently boosted by the attendance of Taylor Swift, who is dating their tight end, Travis Kelce.

“He is famous for his soaring guitar riffs and well-crafted melodies,” stated the Patriots announcer before Bon Jovi rang the bell. “Patriots scoring drives have been punctuated for years by his lyrics and playoff crowds have sung along with him!”

Swift watched the game with her dad. It's not known if Swift and Bon Jovi met at the game.

Bon Jovi's connection to the Pats began when New England coach Bill Belichick was with the New York Giants. The rocker gained field access to Giants games at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford by pretending to be a photographer in 1990, according to nfl.com.

Belichick became the coach of the Patriots in 2000 and since then Bon Jovi has been a regular in the luxury box of Patriots owner Robert Kraft at Pats' home games. The team plays “Livin’ on a Prayer” during pivotal moments of games to inspire the players.

The band Bon Jovi, who are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, recently released the seasonal song, “Christmas Isn't Christmas.”
