Stars Collective Unveils Inaugural Stars International Film Festival Takes Place In Los Angeles This November
EXCLUSIVE: Stars Collective, a Los Angeles-based film finance and mentorship arm, has announced the launch of Stars Asian International Film Festival – a new capsule film showcase to take place in Los Angeles November 12-16.
The festival, which will include a dozen feature selections celebrating Asian cinema, will spotlight a broad range of exceptional films by Asian filmmakers, including a Xiaogang Feng Retrospective which will run from the 9th to the 16th. Kicking off the festival will be the Opening Ceremony on November 12th; the StarS Summit held at the Petersen Automotive Museum on November 13th; followed by the StarS Gala, in collaboration with Women In Film (WIF) on November 14th at the Audrey Irmas Pavilion; and concluding with the Closing Gala at the Los Angeles Theatre on November 16th.

Films selected for the Stars Asian International Film Festival will have the chance to compete in the following categories: Best Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, and Jury Prize as well as honorary awards for Outstanding Cinematic Achievement, Most Groundbreaking Film, Trailblazing Filmmaker, Outstanding Asian Artist, and the Stars Special Multicultural Impact.
Jury members for the Stars Asian International Film Festival include jury co-presidents Chinese film producer and director Han Sanping and four-time Academy Award® nominee and BAFTA-winning screenwriter and producer Anthony McCarten and along with Oscar®-winning producer Donna Gigliotti (Shakesphere in Love), renowned Chinese director and producer Lu Chuan, American motion picture and television producer Chris Lee, award-winning director Nattawut
“Baz” Poonpiriya, and renowned Hollywood producer and executive Paula Wagner (Mission Impossible I, II, III).

Monk and the Gun, which is Bhutan’s submission for the best international feature category at the 2024 Academy Awards. The Opening ceremony will take place at the TCL Chinese Theater. The festival will close with Wuershan’s classic mythology blockbuster Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms (China).
Based on the Chinese literature classic Investiture of the Gods, Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms was directed by Wuershan and produced by Beijing Culture. Producer Shanshan Luo played a pivotal role in bringing the movie to the international market. Well Go USA Entertainment distributed the ambitious, large-scale adaptation in North America in both standard and Imax formats.
Starring Kris Philips, Xia Yu, Huang Bo and Li Xuejian, Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms depicts a mythical war between humans, immortals and monsters that took place three thousand years ago. The epic dominated the 2023 Chinese summer box office, earning the equivalent of $362 million USD so far.
