Starbucks is getting into the gift-giving spirit.

On Thursday, Nov. 16, customers can score a free reusable red holiday cup with the purchase of select holiday beverages. This is the sixth year that the coffee mavericks are offering the deal in store and online.

Coffee drinkers who still want the flavors of fall can order the apple crisp oat milk macchiato, iced apple crisp oat milk shaken espresso, pumpkin cream cold brew or pumpkin spice latte in any size to get the free cup. Eligible coffee drinks from the holiday menu include the caramel brulée latte, chestnut praline latte, gingerbread latte, oleato gingerbread oat milk latte, peppermint mocha and sugar cookie almond milk latte.

For people who prefer tea and hot chocolate the freebie is eligible with an order of the gingerbread oat milk chai, pumpkin cream chai tea latte, peppermint hot chocolate, peppermint white hot chocolate, white hot chocolate or plain hot chocolate.

The benefits of the reusable cup last beyond the holiday season. Per Starbucks' existing reusable cup policy, guests who bring their multi-use cup to stores can get a 10-cent discount on their order. Starbucks rewards members are eligible for even more perks: Foregoing a disposable cup gives members 25 bonus stars.

The reusable cup has a similar look as the four new holiday cup designs, along with the new cold drink cup, which were all revealed on Nov. 1.

This year each hot drink cup features a touch of pink.

The bauble wrap red cup design is most like the collectible cup. The disposable cup decorations have several ornament shapes reminiscent of a “uniquely wrapped gift,” said Bridget Shilling, the designer of the 2023 cup collection.

The party plaid cup is inspired by cozy wool apparel. “I was thinking about a classic plaid scarf, but I wanted it to feel a bit more modern,” said Shilling.

The peppermint mocha design, inspired by the festive Starbucks drink of the same name, is etched with swirly green, red and pink waves.

Evoking the giving spirit of the season, the ribbon spool design is clad in red, green and pink ribbons wrapped around the holiday cup. “I wanted it to feel joyful and a bit imperfect, similar to how you might store your ribbons for holiday wrapping,” Shilling said.

The cold drink cup design, which is the first new one introduced since 2021, also features whimsy baubles and sparkles, all dressed in a uniform white color.
