After season 4 ended in 2018, fans have been clamoring for the Star Wars Rebels Season 5 release date. The series continued the Star Wars story after The Clone Wars and was based on the rebel crew of Hera Syndulla, Sabine Wren, Zeb, Kanan, and Ezra Bridger. They ignited the sparks to begin the rebellion against the Empire. But after the ambiguous ending of Season 4, will the crew return in a fifth season?

There is no release date for the fifth season of Star Wars Rebels, as its story continues in the latest Ahsoka series on Disney Plus.

Initially, there was supposed to be a sequel series continuing the story of Rebels after the way Season 4 ended with Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn’s conflict. But with the success of The Mandalorian, all plans that Dave Filoni had for the Rebels characters were shifted to live-action, with Ahsoka Tano also making her live-action debut.

Now, with the launch of her own series, most of the popular Rebels characters have returned in it. Furthermore, Ahsoka takes elements from the story Dave Filoni wanted to tell in Rebels season 5 as Sabine Wren and Ahsoka follow the trail of Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger. Hence, we can be sure that a Star Wars Rebels Season 5 will not happen.

Instead, Ahsoka will continue its narrative by reassembling most of the Rebels characters. Then they could go on to appear in Ahsoka Season 2 (if it happens) and the upcoming Star Wars movie that Dave Filoni is directing.

No, Season 5 of Star Wars Rebels isn’t confirmed to release on Disney Plus.

The official synopsis of the series reads:

“Star Wars Rebels, set five years before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, tells the story of the Rebellion’s beginnings while the Empire spreads tyranny through the galaxy.”
