'Star Wars' icon Mark Hamill's dead-on Harrison Ford impression is a must-watch

Luke Skywalker may be a Jedi Master, but Mark Hamill has mastered something almost as difficult: His Harrison Ford impression.

During an appearance this week on "Late Night with Seth Meyers," Hamill recalled being awed by Ford as they filmed "Star Wars: A New Hope" in the late 1970s and delivered a dead-on impression of the gravel-voiced sex symbol.

It was "instant idolization," Hamill, now 67, said of meeting Ford, who is nine years older. "Harrison walks in, and he's just too cool for school."

The handsome then-newcomer had a natural understanding of the film's direction: "I think he'd make a really good director if he weren't so lazy," Hamill quipped. ("We'll edit that out later.")

After the two filmed an action sequence that culminates with them getting stuck in a trash compactor, Hamill was concerned about a possible continuity error: "Shouldn't my hair be all wet and matted with schmutz all through it?"

In response, Harrison "turns to me and says, 'Hey, kid. It ain't that kind of movie.'"

Given Hamill's impressive history of voiceover work, his spot-on impression of Ford's deep deadpan shouldn't come as a surprise. Although he's best known for voicing the Joker in "Batman," he's lent his voice to dozens of characters for film and TV through the years.

While the two no longer co-star in the "Star Wars" universe (unless Han Solo makes some sort of appearance in "Rise of Skywalker," which is unlikely), they remain good friends. Ford even delivered a speech last year at Hamill's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.
