New ‘Star Wars: Force Awakens’ 360 Video That Is Neither A Trailer Nor A Clip

Facebook announced today that it is dropping 360-degree videos in its newsfeed, one of the first items being a first-person speeder-bike experience on the desert planet of Jakku — the home planet of Rey (Daisy Ridley) featured in Disney’s upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In this clip, Star Wars nerds can savor the experience of flying by and inspecting the massive debris left from that crashed Imperial Star Destroyer as seen in Trailer 2. A special set of cameras is used to create the 360 experience, and if you’re watching the video on a cell phone, you can twirl around and the camera POV will turn with you.

Discovery, GoPro, LeBron James & Uninterrupted, Saturday Night Live, and Vice are among the other content providers streaming 360 videos today on Facebook.
