May 4 has become Star Wars unofficial holiday, coined after the series' famous phrase "May the force be with you," which is eerily close to "May the 4th be with you." The very first mention of this phrase was way back in 1979, just two years after the release of Star Wars: A New Hope, when the U.K. conservative party paid for a newspaper advertisement saying, “May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie. Congratulations!” in reference to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's political victory.
