Star Trek: Discovery Recasts Klingon Amid Flurry of New Additions
Kenneth Mitchell will soon go where… well, where plenty of men have gone before.
The Astronaut Wives Club survivor will return to outer space in the long-awaited Star Trek: Discovery as part of a recast announced by CBS All Access.

Mitchell, whose TV credits also include Jericho and Frequency, is set to play Kol, a commanding officer in the Klingon Empire. He thus replaces Shazad Latif (Penny Dreadful), who will now fill the role of Starfleet Lieutenant Tyler.
In addition, Discovery has added three more actors to its ranks: Rekha Sharma (Battlestar Galactica) as Commander Landry, security officer for the Discovery; and Damon Runyan (Degrassi) and Clare McConnell as Ujilli and Dennas, respectively, leaders in the Klingon Empire.
The ever-growing Discovery roster already includes Sonequa Martin-Green (The Walking Dead) as First Officer Michael Burnham, Jason Isaacs (The OA) as Captain Lorca, James Frain (True Blood) as Spock’s father Sarek, Maulik Pancholy (30 Rock) as Dr. Nambue and Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) as captain of the U.S.S. Shenzhou, among others.
The oft-delayed new Trek series is expected to launch “sometime [in] late summer, early fall,” CBS chairman Les Moonves told investors in February. Discovery was originally set for a January debut, then May, before being pushed back again.
