Stanley Campbell, Uncle Luke’s Rocket Scientist Brother, Plans To Run For Florida Senate
Stanley Campbell is aiming to add another title to his already diverse resume. In addition to being the legendary Uncle Luke’s brother, Campbell is a rocket scientist, navy pilot, and golf course owner. Now, he’s plotting to run for Florida Senate, TheMessenger exclusively reports.
The Sunshine State native reportedly plans to challenge former U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel Powell for the Democratic nomination. The goal is to unseat Rick Scott, a former Florida governor, who has won three statewide elections in a row.
“Mr. Campbell’s personal story alone makes him one of the most compelling, formidable potential U.S. Senate candidates in the country,” said Kevin Cate, a top Florida Democratic strategist. “If he’s able to compliment that with good fundraising and organizing, all of the sudden Democrats might actually have a chance to take down Rick Scott.”
One of Campbell’s most recent accomplishments is becoming one of the very few Black golf course owners in the country, with 20 total owners nationwide and only three in Florida.
Last month, the businessman opened up during an interview with Kerri-On-Golf about the entrepreneurial change he hopes to inspire, stating, “If we do this right, we’ll stimulate another three to five golf course owners within the next two years. The next five years, we’ll probably have 10, and in the next 15 years, it won’t be a discussion. We should have over 150 golf courses from people of color.” Watch the interview above.
Campbell spent his childhood with his brother Luther Campbell, the former 2 Live Crew rapper who is well-known as one of Miami’s most prolific Hip-Hop artists. Their family grew up in Liberty City.
