Stallone Sisters Named Miss Golden Globe 2017

Meet your new Miss Golden Globe. Or more accurately, Misses Golden Globe.

Sophia, Sistine and Scarlet Stallone were named Miss Golden Globe 2017 at the HFPA/InStyle Celebrate 2017 Golden Globes event at Catch LA Thursday night.

The distinction — dating back to 1963 — is traditionally awarded to the child of a prominent Hollywood actor or actress. There can be a Miss Golden Globe and Mr. Golden Globe in the same year. For 2017, there are three Miss Golden Globes — a first.

Sophia, Sistine and Scarlet Stallone are the daughters of Golden Globe winner Sylvester Stallone and his wife Jennifer Flavin Stallone.

“For the first time in Golden Globe history, we have proudly selected not one but three Miss Golden Globe representatives. The Stallone sisters will continue our time honored tradition of handing out the statuettes at the awards ceremony,” said HFPA President Lorenzo Soria. “Each of the lovely young women in the triad have had success whether it be in academics, sports or pursuing a modeling career. With being raised by such role models Sylvester and Jennifer, we can’t wait to see what the future has in store for these ladies.”

The honorees assist in the annual Golden Globe Awards, helping usher presenters and winners on and off stage. Miss and Mr. Golden Globe are called out briefly during the broadcast as well.

Notable former Miss Golden Globes include Melanie Griffith (1975), Laura Dern (1982), and Joely Fisher (1992). Griffith and Dern went to win Golden Globes of their own.

Younger audiences will know Rumer Willis, who was named Miss Golden Globe 2008. Due to the WGA strike, the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore participated in the 2009 awards show. She’s appeared in “The House Bunny” and on “Dancing With the Stars,” which she won.

Dakota Johnson, the daughter of Don Johnson and former Miss Golden Globe Melanie Griffith, was given the honor in 2006. She went on to famously play Anastasia Steele in “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association previously announced that Meryl Streep will be awarded the Cecil B. deMille Award in 2017.

The show, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, takes place on January 7, 2017.
