No Joke

The stairs Joaquin Phoenix sashays down in the movie Joker have now become less ominous and more touristy, as people have been flocking to the New York City location to be just like him.

People have been posting selfies and portraits of themselves at the lengthy stairs, which are at 167th Street in The Bronx, striking the pose of the evil DC Comics character.

Fleck's Dance

Phoenix, as Arthur Fleck, did a dance in the movie as he progressively moved down the stairs while celebrating becoming the Clown Prince of Crime.

The scene and stills from the scene have become synonymous with the film, to the delight of fans, but much to the chagrin of residents.

It's apparently not just a tourist draw, but a tourist trap. CinemaBlend says people, some dressed like the Joker, have been gathering at the stairs to pose for pictures.

It's also ticking off local residents, who CinemaBlend notes may need to use those stairs to just go about their lives.

"Legally as a bronx resident you're allowed and encouraged to tax anyone visiting the joker stairs," wrote @desusnice.

Maybe Don't Go To the Joker Stairs

They've actually been dubbed the Joker Stairs, if you search on Google.

"Those awful stairs on 167 are now renamed 'the joker stairs' so i just want to remind everyone that the bronx is not a friendly place for tourist attractions you will get robbed beloved," tweeted @kailaniskye.
