It wasn't a surprise to see a large crowd overflowing out of the Palomino tent on Sunday afternoon for singer-songwriter and "Yellowstone" actor Ryan Bingham's set.

Bingham, whose aura reads as part Topanga Canyon and part Austin, Texas, walked out in a turquoise paisley shirt, white cowboy hat and big '70s style sunglasses during a small intro before starting with "Nothin' Holds Me Down" and didn't miss a beat going into "Jingle and Go" when he asked the crowd "Are you ready to boogie?"

The 50-minute set was a variety of Americana music and a country band's version of shoegaze with muddy guitars and slow fiddle with some southern rock thrown in. Even though songs such as "Hallelujah" and "Bluebird" weren't heavy on the boogie-woogie, it was a solid display of musicianship.

A highlight of the performance was the 2009 song "The Weary Kind," a collaboration with producer and singer-songwriter T. Bone Burnett, which was the theme song for the film "Crazy Heart" starring Jeff Bridges. Bingham won an Academy Award, Golden Globe and Grammy for the ballad. When he began the song, many recognized it but not many were singing along.

During a brief pause toward the end, the drummer and Bingham faked the crowd with a few seconds of what sounded like the John Denver song "Take Me Home, Country Roads" but he laughed and said "Just testing y'all."

Going out on the same energy he came in with, Bingham ended the performance with the lively song "Bread and Water."

In 2019, Bingham released his sixth album "American Love Song," which was his first in four years. He spent his break from music appearing in films such as in the 2015 drama "A Country Called Home" with Imogen Poots and Mackenzie Davis, and the 2017 western action movie "Hostiles" before playing Walker on "Yellowstone" in 2018.

Bingham teamed up with Live Nation in 2019 on his own music festival, Hill Country, in Luckenbach, Texas featuring performances by Old 97's, Son Volt, Wild Feathers, Colter Wall and more.
