Stacey Abrams to Produce CBS Drama Based on Her Romance Novel ‘Never Tell’

CBS has put into development a drama series based on the romance novel “Never Tell” by former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams.

Published in 2004 under the pen name Selena Montgomery, “Never Tell” centers on a criminal psychologist who joins forces with a charismatic investigative journalist after she comes to suspect a serial killer is roaming New Orleans.

Abrams, a Democrat who lost the Georgia governor’s race last November by less than 55,000 votes, will serve as executive producer on the CBS TV Studios series alongside writer Talicia Raggs and Nina Tassler and Denise Di Novi of Pat Ma Productions.

As a politician, Abrams served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2007 to 2017, rising to minority leader in 2011. She became the first black woman to run as a major-party gubernatorial nominee last year when she lost to Brian Kemp.

Under her pen name, Abrams has published eight novels, including “Rules of Engagement,” “The Art of Desire” and “Power of Persuasion.” Combined, her novels have sold more than 100,000 copies.
