St. Cloud man is accused of promoting and receiving profits from prostitution

ST. CLOUD — A St. Cloud man is accused of promoting and receiving profits from prostitution, according to a criminal complaint filed in Stearns County court.

John Duane Elrod, 55, is charged with one felony count of promoting the prostitution of an individual and one felony count of receiving profits from prostitution.

In December, the Central Minnesota Human Trafficking Task Force began an investigation into suspected sex trafficking at an apartment on the 700 block of Ninth Avenue South.

According to the complaint, Elrod is accused of repeatedly promoting the prostitution of at least two people by providing his apartment to them to engage in acts of prostitution.

Elrod would at times receive the profits of the prostitution in exchange for the use of his apartment, the complaint said.

Elrod made his first court appearance Thursday.
