"Within a day, maybe a day and a half, all the condoms were gone. It was absurd," Trey tells EW.

This might actually be more shocking than anything shown onscreen on Squid Game: The Challenge, but players were so desperate for chapstick in the dorm that they ended up using lubricated condoms on their lips during filming.

"I'm going to confirm this: Yeah, that's 100 percent real," Player 301/Trey Plutnicki tells EW with a laugh before asking, "Do you think I did that? Do I seem like a person that did that? No, hell no. That's so stupid."

When players arrived in the dorm after making it through Red Light, Green Light, they were given a small bag of toiletries to use throughout filming including a toothbrush, toothpaste, and hand sanitizer. There were also communal toiletries to use in the bathrooms, but lip balm was not provided, and after a few days, it started to take a toll on contestants. That's when many players started unwrapping the condoms provided on set and using the lubrication on their lips. While Trey himself did not use the condoms to soothe his chapped lips, he tried using other items provided by production.

"There was lotion, there was conditioner, and those were the first two tries," Trey says. "And after I tried those and they weren't working, I was like, 'Well, that's all of our options, because obviously we're not going to use the condoms.' And within a day, maybe a day and a half, all the condoms were gone. It was absurd. And it still didn't work!"

He laughs as he remembers how people were still struggling with chapped lips even after wiping the lubricated condoms on their mouths. "When people tried it and they kept trying it and it didn't work, and I was like, 'Obviously!'" he adds. "So yeah, that's 100 percent true."

Producers eventually gave players individual tins of lip balm with their numbers on them, and Trey regrets not keeping it as it was one of the items he could have taken home with him (unlike the tracksuit he lived in during filming, which had to be returned to production after his elimination in Glass Bridge).

"I gave my chapstick to someone last minute because I accidentally kept it in my pocket during Glass Bridge," Trey says. "And I was like, 'Can you please give this back to me? It has my number on it.' And they were like, 'I will not see you again if you don't make it over that bridge.' I was like, 'Great. Killer. Awesome encouragement.'"

Trey never got his chapstick back to keep as a souvenir, but at least he'll always be able to cherish the memory of watching other people use condoms as lip balm.

The season finale of Squid Game: The Challenge premieres Wednesday, Dec. 6, on Netflix.
