Springfield's Running From Yeti ranked 2nd best 5K race in nation by USA Today
An annual 5K race in Springfield has been deemed the second best in the country by USA Today.
Springfield's Running From Yeti, held each February, was ranked as the second best 5K race in the nation by USA Today 10Best editors on Wednesday. The race was ranked No. 3 in 2023.
Running From Yeti is a touring 5K race, held annually in Springfield, Kansas City and St. Louis during the "chilly winter months." In addition to a 5K, the race features a 10K and half marathon. Springfield's race also includes a full marathon.
Running From Yeti placed second behind Indianapolis' Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K, which weaves through the city's downtown. Other recipients of this year's award for Best 5K Race included:
Third place: Credit United Cherry Blossom 5K in Washington D.C.
Fourth place: Hot Summer's Night 5K in Columbia, South Carolina
Fifth place: Boulderthon 5K in Boulder, Colorado
Sixth place: Alpha 5K presented by Sawyer Savings in Poughkeepsie, New York
Seventh place: Best Damn Race Safety Harbor in Safety Harbor, Florida
Eight place: Williams Toyota Wineglass 5K in Corning, New York
Ninth place: The 5K - Big Sur International Marathon in Big Sur, California
10th place: Disney Princess 5K presented by CORKCICLE at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida

In addition to USA Today's 10Best Editors, this year's Best 5K Race contest was judged by sports journalist Brittany Vermeer, travel journalist Dave Thompson, author Hilary Topper, coach Kelly Roberts, fitness trainer and blogger Marnie Kunz and travel writer Teresa Bergen.
