Spring into art at Beaver Valley Artists' juried show at The Merrick
NEW BRIGHTON – See what some of the region's finest artists worked on this past winter at the 46th juried art exhibition by the Beaver Valley Artists.
The show opens April 30 at the Merrick Art Gallery in New Brighton. Between 1-4 p.m., visitors can check out the selected works, with awards presented at 2:30 p.m.
The opening will feature 45 local artists and there will be refreshments.
The show will remain on exhibit until May 11 during gallery hours. At 7 p.m. that evening, juror Jaison Schafer will give a critique of members' work, and explain his choices for awards.
Schafer has a bachelor's degree in studio arts from the University of Pittsburgh, and is a professional artist and teacher creating live event paintings, portraits, murals and original art. He co-owns Live Painting Pittsburgh as well as Blue Brush Murals and Designs and The Art Spirit Fine Art Studio and Gallery in Saxonburg.
The Beaver Valley Artists meet the second Thursday of each month at The Merrick to learn more about art through live artist demonstrations, practice working from live models and artist critiques. They host a juried show of their work once a year at the Merrick, located at 1100 Fifth Ave.
