Some folk are dog folk. And some folk are monsters. Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) has long-claimed to be a foe to man's best friend, as his father Martin's (John Mahoney) dog Eddie was his constant comedic foil on Frasier's original run.

But Eddie, as well as Martin, are both gone in the reboot (and sadly, also in real life) and Frasier is settling into his new home in his old city, Boston, with his son Freddie (Jack Cutmore-Scott). Like his grandfather, Freddie's got a canine companion that rubs Frasier the wrong way — but not even he can stay mad at this face:

The as-yet-unnamed pooch works at the fire station with Freddie, hence why he's Cruella DeVil's favorite breed.

In the exclusive clip below, Frasier and his new frenemy have a tense showdown, with the good doctor grousing, "You are wasting your time. I am not a dog person," and tries to shoo him away — to no avail.

"Think you're gonna wear me down?" he asks the pooch. "Trust me, I've had years of experience. I outlasted that little mongrel, I'll outlast you," he sneers, referencing, of course, the late Edward Crane.

For all of the OG Frasier's 11 seasons, Eddie was portrayed by wire-hair Jack Russell Terrier, Moose — though after the eighth season, Moose's son Enzo was his aging father's stunt double (according to their respective Wikipedia pages... yes, they both have Wiki entries).

Enzo's Wiki also links to a clip from Animal Magnetism with the father-and-son duo's trainer, who claims the two can't "stand to be in the same room together." How very Canine Postcards from the Edge.

In 1993, Moose was also the first Frasier cast member to land an EW cover, under the questionable headline, "He's Hot, He's Sexy, He's Pure-Bred." Maybe calling dogs "sexy" was just something folks did back in the post-Lassie '90s. But hey, when you got "It," you got "It."

And Moose had "It" in spades. He even had his own autobiography, My Life as a Dog, written by David Hyde Pierce's husband Brian Hargrove. And what a life it was. Moose died at 15 in 2006 and Enzo died at 14 in 2010.

But Eddie's legacy lives on, and there's a new dog on the block to pick up where he left off: annoying the hell out of Frasier Crane. Good boy.
