Sportscaster Charissa Thompson weighs in on Travis Kelce’s romance with Taylor Swift.

Charissa Thompson is sending a bold message about Travis Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift.

The sportscaster, who actually suggested the two get together weeks before they took their romance public, said during a recent conversation with Us Weekly that she is “so happy to see them so happy together.”

“Travis has been a good friend for a long time,” Thompson told the magazine, adding that she “always” wants the Kansas City Chiefs tight end to “be happy.”

Thompson and fellow sportscaster Erin Andrews urged the pop star to consider dating the NFL player during an episode of their podcast, Calm Down, last August. At the time, Andrews, 46, encouraged the “Cruel Summer” singer to “try our friend Travis,” adding, “he is fantastic.”

“There is no one that would give you a better time than this guy,” Thompson, 42, agreed.

Weeks after that podcast episode dropped, Swift and Kelce, both 34, took their relationship public as the “Anti-Hero” songstress cheered for Kelce at a Chiefs game. It was the first of several NFL games that she attended over the next several months, culminating in her attendance at Super Bowl LVIII as she celebrated the Chiefs’ victorious end to the 2023 NFL season.

Reflecting on that August conversation with Andrews, Thompson told Us Weekly they were “big advocates” of the relationship. Thompson also expressed excitement about Swift’s attendance at NFL games boosting viewership, with many Swifties tuning in to catch a glimpse of the “Lover” singer. From Thompson’s perspective, having younger audiences tuning in for the games because of Swift is “only a positive thing,” she said.

Andrews also weighed in on Swift’s impact on the NFL’s audience during an episode of their podcast earlier this year.

“How bad is it now that we have young girls that want to watch the NFL?” Andrews had asked. “I think it’s freaking awesome.”
