Yankees, Patriots among sports teams finding creative ways to celebrate 280 characters on Twitter
Welcome to the age of elongated tweets.
On Tuesday night, Twitter changed its character limit from 140 to 280. And naturally, the sports community had some fun with it.
Here’s the New York Yankees showboating their 27 World Series championships:

The New England Patriots tried (and failed) to count all 214 of Tom Brady’s wins:
Finally! Enough characters to count all of Tom’s wins.

Hey @Twitter, can we get some more characters?— New England Patriots (@Patriots) November 8, 2017
And the NBA referees Twitter account seemed excited(?) and hopeful for the future of fan complaints:
Now that we all have #280Characters, we expect your Twitter complaints about specific calls against your favorite teams to be calm, well-reasoned, and full of complete sentences. Thanks in advance for this positive step forward in basketball officiating-related discourse."

Hear that growlin' mean & angry
Here he comes a prowlin' lean & hungry
An offensive brute
Run pass or boot
& defensively he's rough, tough

The Autumn Wind is a pirate,
Blustering in from sea. With a rollicking song, he sweeps along,
Swaggering boisterously. His face is weather beaten.
He wears a hooded sash,
With a silver hat about his head,
And a bristling black mustache.#RaiderNation pic.twitter.com/yPdA95A8dM— OAKLAND RAIDERS (@RAIDERS) November 8, 2017
