Nickelodeon has renewed its flagship animated series SpongeBob SquarePants for a 26-episode 15th season. The announcement comes ahead of the series’ milestone 25th anniversary next year.

Incurable optimist SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, Mr. Krabs, Plankton and Squidward will uncover more nautical adventures in the new season, which will mark 345 total episodes and counting since the show’s July 1999 launch.

SpongeBob SquarePants voice cast members include Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick Star), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy Cheeks) and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton).

Seasons 1-12 are available on Paramount+, the home for SpongeBob SquarePants Universe content.

SpongeBob SquarePants has reigned as the most-watched animated series since its launch on July 17, 1999, spawning a global franchise that includes spinoff series on Paramount+, theatrical movies, consumer products and a Tony-winning Broadway musical.

SpongeBob SquarePants was created by the late Stephen Hillenburg and is produced by Nickelodeon in Burbank. The character-driven cartoon chronicles the nautical and sometimes nonsensical adventures of SpongeBob, an incurable optimist and earnest sea sponge, and his undersea friends.

Marc Ceccarelli and Vincent Waller are executive producers of SpongeBob SquarePants and offshoots, The Patrick Star Show and Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years. Production is overseen by Nickelodeon’s Claudia Spinelli, SVP Animation for Big Kids, and Kelley Gardner, VP Current Series, Animation.
